Our Journey
Tanzania TB Community Network (TTCN) is a registered non-profit organisation and a national network of Civil Society (CS) and Community Groups (CG) working to address TB, HIV/AIDS, and other health-related challenges across Tanzania. Headquarters in Arusha, TTCN was established in 2017 and formally registered in 2019 under the NGO Act No. 24 of 2002 with registration no. ooNGO/R/0614.
TTCN was founded by a coalition of 27 community-based organisations (CBOs), TB Advocates and survivor groups committed to advancing community-based responses to TB, HIV/AIDS, human rights, and gender. The idea for the network emerged from a 2016 CSO and community resource mapping exercise, which identified significant gaps in the delivery of TB/HIV services, including duplicated efforts, fragmented interventions, a lack of a unified community voice in national decision-making, and weak government-civil society partnerships. To bridge these gaps, TTCN was established as a unifying platform to amplify community voices and drive coordinated, strategic action.
Since then, TTCN has expanded its membership to over 50 CBOs and implements both direct and indirect programmes across 18 regions in Tanzania, namely Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Geita, Kagera, Katavi, Kigoma, Manyara, Mara, Mbeya, Mwanza, Pwani, Rukwa, Ruvuma, Shinyanga, Simiyu, Songwe, and Tanga. Through this extensive network, TTCN enables rapid mobilisation, broad-based implementation, and meaningful impact at scale.
